About the Department

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was started in the year 2008 with the vision of developing the department as a center of excellence. ECE Department strives to make the students to become exemplenary professionals by providing qualitative and quantitative academic teaching in order to meet the global challenges on par with the industry standards.

The department by virtue of its efforts has set technical standards produced university rank holders starting from the successful graduation of the first batch of students. So far the department has produced 53 university ranks.

The department takes initiatives for overall development of students and give them practical orientation to inculcate employability skills which will help them to face this competitive world. The department activities conducted are focused on imparting technical knowledge along its application in the practical world. Simultaneously personality development of students is also given priority.

MISSION

  • M1 : To adopt effective teaching methods in order to maximize knowledge dissemination for students.
  • M2 :To have adequate mechanisms to enhance the understanding and implementation of theoretical concepts in practical scenarios.
  • M3 :To provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to the students and faculty members by creating a conducive ambience for excellence in engineering education.
  • M4 :To produce Electronics and Communication Engineering graduates with good ethical skills and managerial skills to blossom as successful professionals and entrepreneurs.

HOD Profile

Dr. M.P. CHITRA, M.E., Ph.D.,

Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

Dr.M.P.CHITRA,ME.,PhD., Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has more than 26 years of teaching and 10 years of research experience. Her research interests are Wireless Networks, Signal Processing, Wireless Communication and Cognitive Radio Networks. She has graduatedin BE-Instrumentation & Control Engineering from Government College of Technology affiliated toBharathiar Universityin 1989. She has obtained her Master Degree in ME-Applied Electronics from Sathyabama University, Chennai in 2004 and her Doctorate PhDin Signal Processing in Wireless Networksfrom Sathyabama University, Chennaiin 2012.

She has published several research papers in International and National Journals, presented papers in International and National conferences and published six books. She is a recognized research supervisor for guiding PhD scholars in Sathyabama University Chennai. Under her guidance 2 PhD scholars have completed PhD and 2 are pursuing PhD work. She is Reviewer of Consumer Electronics Times (CET) Journal, Reviewer of Optics and Photonics Journal and.Reviewer of IEEE R10 Madras Section Student Project Funding.

She has received research funding grants from AICTE more than Rs.10 Lakhs through AICTE STTP, AICTE MODROBS and AICTE Seminar Grant. She has also received grant funds for student projects from IEEE, TNSCST and has Filed Patents. She has received Anna University National Award for an Outstanding Academic(Degree Level) Teacher Award instituted by Anna University, Chennai by ISTE at 47th ISTE National Annual Convention Kottayam in 2017. She is a Life Member in ISTE, Life Member in IETE, Member of IEEE and Member in IEEE Women’s Engineering Society.
